‘Wellbeing Week’ ‘Wellbeing Week’ took place from Monday 30 th September to Friday 4 th October across our campus. This year the focus has been on promoting our student’s positive wellbeing as we enter a busy period. MEC has also successfully achieved the Amber Flag for Schools. ‘Wellbeing Week’ expanded its profile across the campus this year as MEC continues to embed wellbeing across both junior & senior cycle curriculum. On Monday, all 6th years partook in ‘Wellness’ workshops delivered by MEC teachers who modelled self care ideas e.g. aromatherapy oils, Headspace app, meditation, and the power of positive thoughts. The workshops sparked discussions around having a sense of gratitude, goal setting as well as signposting agencies that support mental health. All 3 rd to 6 th year students also received an informative talk on Cyberbullying. Board games to encourage friendship building and a ‘wall of gratitude’ were available in the library at break times. Our MEC staff also got in the act and were busy carrying out ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ for each other during the week. Each day staff received a Self Care Project via email and it brightened up everyone’s week. Well done and a big thank you to the ‘Wellbeing Committee’. LOREM IPSUM DOLOR SIT AMET, CONSECTTUR Thursday unveiled a non-uniform ‘Colourful Day’ which ADIPISCING ELIT. DUIS promoted positivity and acceptance across the school. Students really added a colourful splash to what was a MAXIMUS very wet and miserable storm Lorezno. A ‘Cycle Against Suicide’ Spinathon also took place from 9am to 12.30 pm VESTIBULUM CURSUS. to raise awareness and spread the message: ‘it’s okay not to feel okay and it’s absolutely okay to ask for help’. Finally, guest speaker Joan Freeman who is an independent senator, founder & former CEO of Pieta House presented the Amber Flag Award to the MEC Campus. Feedback from staff and students was wholly positive and we hope ‘Wellbeing Week’ will become a firm favourite in our school calendar.
