In addition, our most talented Gabrielle Broome painted three original art pieces that are on display in the lobby. We hope to show these pieces when we visit the Museum of Jewish Heritage next month.
Memorializing Yom Hashoah continued on Monday, April 28th, with a visit with Rene Slotkin, Mengele twin and Auschwitz survivor. After viewing the documentary “Rene and I,” the students prepared questions for Mr. Slotkin including “ Before being reunited with your sister what did you think?” “If you had to choose between yourself and your sister, which one of you would have been the experiment?”Which one the control?”
Mr. Slotkin answered the students’ questions and declared that he hopes to eradicate prejudice in the world today so that the Shoah should not recur! He feels that racism and anti-Semitism is still
very prevalent in the world. He is testimony to the epidemic that occurs when anti-Semitism reigns. His tattoo of 169061 is definitely embedded in the hearts and minds of all the students.
