Golf: An Old Boys golf day was held between
College, Hilton and Michaelhouse at Gowrie. Mark
Hedley (1972) started it as he felt it was a good way
to retain the rivalry between the ―Colleges‖ in the
Midlands.
There were 5 teams of 4 balls from each school so 60
golfers. College won the trophy. It will become an
annual event as it was highly successful and very
competitive. College had 4 balls from across the
generations from the older guys like Gerry Robinson,
to the younger guys like the Goedekes.
Flying: Glen Warden (1973) took part in the
Durban Land, Sea and Air Festival over 21 – 23
March in Durban. The entertaining and exhilarating
event brought together the world‘s top aerobatic
pilots in a ―Six Nations‖ thrilling aerobatic
challenge on Durban‘s main beachfront. Ten South
African aero aces competed head to head with five
World and National Champions from France,
Russia, USA, Great Britain and Germany while
flying the most modern aerobatic aircraft, pitting
pilot and plane against each other as they tested the
limits of G-force, skill and speed in the skies above
Durban‘s world class beaches.
The Grand Prix winners were : 1) Francois Le
Vot - France 2) Patrick Davidson - South Africa
3) Mikhail Mamistov – Russia.
Glen lives in Pretoria and is a Comair Airline pilot.
He has 41 years flying experience with 13 800
flying hours, 60 hours competition flying and has
done 200 hours at airshows. He was a member of
the 2012 SA National Team.
