Music as a co-curricular activity has been flourishing and the interest amongst the boys in music as a matric subject has grown over the years, leading to the establishment of a fully-fledged music department. The department is headed by Mary-Ann Hartley with Jacques Heyns as the resident music teacher. An outstanding pianist himself he has many years teaching experience at schools and at UKZN Music Department in Durban. We are very lucky to have him on the staff and the boys are already showing the benefits of working with him. The excitement amongst the boys about music as a subject has been so great that we also have a number of boys taking it as an eighth subject! A big thank you to Shaun Randles and the Class of 1998 who raised over R20 000 for the music room project. Your contribution is most appreciated !
