Tatum Chidlaw: Marketing/Human Resources Intern

Tatum Chidlaw may not have much experience in the business world, but she is soaking up every bit of information she can from her summer as the HR/Marketing intern for the Willamette Valley Medical Center (WVMC).

Tatum is the type of person who doesn't want to limit her options. She is also the type of person who knows knowledge is the best way to avoid limitations. An Exercise Science major at Linfield College, Tatum is using her experience at WVMC to learn as much about the health care industry as possible: "My overall goal is to understand the inner workings of a healthcare business." Why? "I would like the ability to run my own practice.

research on other medical centers. On the marketing side, Tatum is creating a marketing campaign for the launch of WVMC's new bariatrics program which she will be presenting to supervisor Lisa Clark and others.

Tatum is enjoying the work, "So far, every day at work has been great. Whether or not I’m doing something a little bit more repetitive or getting newer tasks thrown at me." Along with engaging tasks, her favorite part of her internship is the people: "everyone is really positive and passionate about what they’re doing. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone."

Working at WVMC creates the perfect opportunity for Tatum to learn. As the Human Resource and Marketing Intern, she is getting two sides of an administrative office: "It’s cool though. It’s really nice to have exposure in both of those departments but very exclusively in each of them." In human resources, Tatum works to revamp the department website, learn about different types of filing for the department, and does
