While studying engineering in school, all three of Meggitt's interns stress the importance working at Meggitt has for their education. Whether it's working with professional engineers or gaining experience in a manufacturing plant, the skills they are gaining are invaluable.
All three interns have specific projects they are working on this summer. Madeline Keudell, the Continuous Improvement Intern uses electrolysis to get rid of rust from tools and strategizes on how the plant can use less water. Matthew Richardson creates videos of workers making products to produce efficiency and identify any failure. As an Engineering Intern, Andrew Marino

tests the compression of seals and scans tools into a machine to be printed later.
Each intern also completes other tasks. For
example, Madeline uses Lean Manufacturing principles in everything she does. When asked about her internship she stated she's gaining experience that she wouldn't have otherwise due to her administrative role. This
experience is pertinent to her future: "I work in continuous improvement. Engineers are supposed to improve things, so I'd say I'll use that in my future." With applicability in mind, Madeline seems comfortable with all the responsibility.
Matt also sees the applicability. Though he creates videos, each one gives him the opportunity to look more closely at how products are made. As an engineer he says, "If
you design things that are impossible to make those poor workers will curse you."
Andrew uses the
opportunity to better understand what it means to work in a manufacturing plant. He finds communicating with everyone, from the other engineers to the production floor workers, both important and relevant to what he will do in his future career.
