President Hassan Rouhani has inaugurated five new projects , together with other officials such as the oil minister Bijan Zanganeh . These projects may help the country have equal footing with Qatar in using its offshore gas field , however , the President did not give any timeline .
Aside from the five new projects , the country has launched four petrochemical projects that will produce two million tonnes worth $ 2 billion annually , according to state media .
As for Qatar , it has lifted its self-imposed ban on the joint field development since it expected an expected rise in competition .
