& PROCEDURES
It is the policy of McCartans Ltd (“the Business”) that health and safety
information relevant to the activities at hand is given to all employees whether full
time, part time or temporary – i.e. agency.
On-going training will be provided to ensure that employees at all levels are:
• Competent to carry out their duties and to use any specialist equipment
especially in the kitchen or bars.

WORKPLACE SAFETY AND WELFARE
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992;
The management will ensure that all areas of the Business meet the Health, Safety
and Welfare needs of all those who will use them. This will include any contractors
carrying out maintenance or service works. Where works are to take place where
customers have access, measures will be taken to ensure that they are not placed at
any risk.
• Aware of their health and safety responsibilities to other staff members and
guests.
CONTROL OF SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH
Decisions relating to on-going training of employees will be reviewed on a regular
basis. The person with day to day responsibility for Health and Safety at respective
venue will be responsible for identifying and implementing health and safety
training needs. Records of the training will be kept on each employee’s individual
file.
Where needed, Risk Assessments and all Material Safety Data Sheets of substances
used will be kept at the main offices. From the Risk Assessments the Management
will instigate the principles of good practice for the control of exposure as detailed in
Schedule 2A Regulation 7(7). No employee will introduce any substance without the
specific consent of their Manager.
All employees will attend regular training/updates to ensure they are familiar with
all aspects of the safe use of equipment. No member of staff either directly
employed or temporary will be permitted to use any equipment for which they are
not trained.

The management team will ensure that all potentially hazardous work activities
undergo a suitable and sufficient Risk Assessment. Upon the establishment of the
level of risk, preventative measures will be introduced, maintained and revised as
needed.

MANUAL HANDLING
Manual Handling Operations Regulations, 1992
The designated health and safety person will assess all manual handling operations
within the Business, taking into account the differing abilities of individual staff
members. Wherever practicable the Business will provide mechanical lifting or
moving aids in order to reduce the risk of injury to staff and/or customers. Before
loads are moved they will ensure that adequate Risk Assessments are carried out to
identify the hazards associated with moving the load and will ensure that suitable
lifting aids are provided.
