Social and Affordable Housing.
MBM is leading the industry in developing a new model to ensure that all people have affordable
access to a home.
In the past few years, the residential sector in Australia has risen steadily, making owning a home more
and more difficult for those on the lower end of the socioeconomic scale.
MBM are at the forefront of the revolution in this sector, working with the International Project Finance
Association (IPFA) in Australia to develop and deliver a new model for the Social and Affordable Housing
Sector. An MBM IPFA Panel Discussion involving the NSW Government, Community Housing Providers
and Private Developers and Financiers, as well as other leading industry advisors identified key issues in
providing services to the government in this sector through the Social and Affordable Housing Fund
(SAHF). This is a new approach to the way Social and Affordable Housing is delivered in NSW. The $1.1b
fund is a key component of the NSW Future Directions for Social Housing in NSW strategy to provide
access to up to 3,000 additional social and affordable housing in NSW.
We are regularly engaged by both public, not-for-profit and private sector clients to conduct due diligence
and reviews of financial models in this space. Our recent engagements include due diligence for a
number of community housing providers and contract administration training for BroadSpectrum on the
Housing NSW Asset Maintenance Contract.
In 2016, our advisory team won the Facilities Management Team of the year at the Royal Institution of
Chartered Surveyors (RICS) annual awards for our work on the Housing NSW Asset Maintenance
Contract.
