Meet the Dean: Artur Hirsh, Director at
Webster University Vienna

Mr. Hirsh, where are you originally from?
I grew up in the United States in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I did my Ph.D. at the State
University of New York at Binghamton. Teaching for Boston University in Massachusetts,
I had the opportunity for an overseas program in Europe for 1 year and now more years
later I am still in Europe.
You have studied and worked in the USA. What are some of the biggest
differences between a USA and a EU school system?
Well, we at Webster are “student centered”, which means we are here to serve the
