FACULTY INSIGHT
Samineh I. Shaheem,
PhD
British
Dean of Hult Graduate
Programs, London and
Organizational Behavior
& Leadership Professor
Why do you need to understand yourself
before you can lead others?
An understanding of who you are and why you
react in a certain way to external influences is
crucial in a business setting. It is through this
awareness that we are able to effectively
manage ourselves, others, and our relationships.
What is a “growth mindset” and why is
it valuable?
Growth mindset is the belief that our skillsets
are not fixed and they can be developed
with the right amount of effort, interest, and
commitment. When you understand this, you’re
more likely to invest time into turning your
weaknesses into strengths. With this attitude,
challenges become learning tools and failures
become stepping stones towards success!
What is the “Hult DNA”?
The Hult DNA is a research-based set of
cognitive-behavioral skills that we use to
develop every student who walks through
our doors. These fall into three categories:
Thinking, Communicating, and Team Building.
How is it used in the leadership program?
The MBA program at Hult starts by analyzing
each student’s competencies in these key
areas. The results form the basis of a leadership
development plan, which is reinforced and
tested through teamwork and targeted
business simulations.
In addition to her role as Dean of Hult’s London
Graduate Programs, Dr. Samineh I. Shaheem is a
professor of Organizational Behavior and
Leadership, as well as Neuroleadership Coach.
She’s regularly invited to be a keynote speaker at
international conferences and seminars.
