Managing in the Digital World: Casual Gaming: You, Me and Wii
1. What process would you use if you were designing a new computer game?
I would use research processes to find which type of game would reach the most consumers. If I choose to go after the casual gamer of all ages, I would design a game with simple controls with an attractive theme, such as an angry birds. I would also make the game where players can connect or compete with other players through the internet. This helps customers do the marketing for you.
2. How would the process of determining system requirements differ if you were designing a new payroll system versus a new game?
The system requirements for a payroll system would focus on an end result most efficient for the payroll accountants and most cost efficient to the business. The system requirements for a new game would focus on an end result of cost efficiency, but mainly focus on the attractiveness to customers.
3. How important is system testing for an online game versus a traditional type of software, such as a payroll system?
System testing for an online game is more important than a payroll system. A payroll system will be used by the payroll accountants weather they like it or not. The system can be fixed after tested with no major consequences. An online game can lose users and customers if the system is not working properly. Sufficent testing is very important to make sure the system doesn’t have any bugs. If a user uses an online game with a bug, they will move on to somebody else’s game and tell others to not play this particular game.
