The Middle East is a transcontinental region encompassing western Asia and Egypt

It is known as the Middle East or the Middle East to the geographical area that joins North Africans , Eastern Europe , and Southwest Asia , becoming a kind of intermediate set of transition nations between different areas and civilizations . The area is conventionally comprised of 19 territories , mostly Arab , which are : Saudi Arabia , Bahrain , United Arab Emirates , Iraq , Iran , Israel , Jordan , Kuwait , Lebanon , Libya , Oman , Qatar , Sudan , Palestine , Syria , Yemen , Cyprus , Egypt , and Turkey . The area is practically flat and arid , with the presence of extensive deserts towards the interior of the Arabian peninsula , in contrast to the alluvial plains of Mesopotamia , irrigated by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers . The average climate is warm throughout the summer and frigid throughout the winter , with much thermal alteration , even when within the parameters of the subtropical belt .
The Middle East is considered one of the cradles of human culture , for which there are living or archaeological traces of its ancient civilizations , of capital importance in the narration of the human race .
The languages spoken in the area are , firstly , Arabic in its various and various versions , then Persian or Farsi , and then Turkish .
The plant and animal life in the area is adapted to the intense climatic conditions , typically composed of xerophilous vegetation and resistant animals .
The presence of the camel , for example , domesticated and used as a beast of burden and a method of transportation , is emblematic .
