“The process is delicate because any crack disqualifies the usage of the shofar. It should be its own material, no lacquer or paint, the color should be the natural color of the horn.”
The small ram shofar is their top seller. Shofarot also makes the bigger shofars for the synagogues to use for Rosh Hashanah for the New Year.
“I’m always telling people to only buy shofars from a reliable source that is under the supervision of the Rabbinate. There are a lot of shofars that are being sold that are not made appropriately, they have cracks and other imperfections that are being sold from around the world. There are factories in China and Morocco where they are not made properly. I encourage people to use a proper shofar.”
