How do you build upon a foundation like that?
In addition to Aaron we had the pleasure of speaking with Rev Sharon Hayton, National Director of CMJ Canada. Recently retired from parish ministry and very familiar with CMJ in Israel and God's continued love for the Jewish People, Rev Sharon was invited to establish CMJ Canada in 2009.
CMJ Canada ministry is focused on three mandates, shared by all the worldwide family of CMJ. These mandates are affectionately known as the three E’s, Evangelism, Education and Encouragement.
‘What motivated me was the need I saw as a Pastor for Biblical education and understanding of the Jewish People and the nation of Israel in Gods redemptive plan," said Sharon.
The Education mandate has become a primary focus thus far by providing courses on Biblical foundations, workshops and seminars. CMJ Canada also hosts educational study tours of Israel. This provides an excellent context for explaining the foundations of the Christian faith and in combatting the rise of Anti-Semitism within the Church.
What brought these two people from opposite corners of the world to show love towards a people that live in what some believe is the centre of the world?
Aaron’s journey to CMJ began in Australia, Down Under. After he and his wife were married they went on ‘Walkabout’ the Australian term for world travel. In 1998 the couple arrived in Israel as tourists to see the Land and read the Bible in ‘Situ’, where Jesus had His ministry. While there, the couple met the community of Christ Church, the Anglican mission of CMJ in Jerusalem.
