So what was the specific target in Israel where the money would go?

The money is to go to a project to support the body of Jewish believers in Israel. Marty looked to Isaiah 14 as a backing for what they were doing.

For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids, and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were, and they shall rule over their oppressors. And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear and from thy hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve. Isaiah 14:1-3

Marty also quoted Isaiah 49 verse 22 – Thus said the Lord God, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring they sons in their arms, and they daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

Marty added, “There is a beautiful picture of those from the nations helping to bring the Jewish people to their own land.”

He continued, “We’re in Canada called to serve the Jewish people. Thinking that we are called to serve the Jewish people to be servants is not a bad lot. Sometimes well-meaning Christians come to Israel with money and want to do good for the Jewish people, which isn’t bad. As an Israeli myself, maybe we have come to a place where instead of Christians from outside doing their own thing, perhaps it is time to come alongside believers in the land to support what God is doing with us.”
