He was attracted to the flags and inquired of the Pastor why they were there. The Pastor replied straightly ‘Because they are the apple of His eye and He is not finished with them’.
Despite some solid support in the Christian world for Israel and the Jewish People, Sharon noted how saddening it is to see anti-Israel movements led by Christians like the Sabeel movement picking up steam. She said a contributing factor to this is the misunderstanding for what Biblical Zionism is.
Hayton commented, ‘Biblical Zionism does not mean support for everything Israel does politically, but that we do support who God says they are and His promises to them’.
For Aaron who has lived in Israel for the past 17 years, he finds the BDS movement and other efforts that Christians are involved in that are anti-Israel as actually counter productive towards helping the Palestinian People.
"Nothing good actually happens out of these efforts that are supposedly geared toward helping Palestinians. What would truly help the Palestinian people would be a functioning police force, a functioning judiciary and a non corrupt municipality. Instead all these conferences produce is more conferences fueled by hate."
Sharon added that believers need to be educated and know the facts when in comes to Israel.
"Go to Israel and have a look around and talk to Jews and Arabs, understand the democracy that Israel is and that Jews and Arabs can get along. Arabs are part of the government, they are doctors, lawyers, in the army and police forces. Israel has many organizations that care for Palestinians."
Aaron added, "What other country in the Middle East has Jews and Arabs serving in the same government or police forces? These anti-Israel organizations are denying the clear and obvious truth."
