A BRIEF HISTORY
OF THE
MAYA COSMIC NUMBER PUZZLES
Deep in the steamy, mosquito infested jungle of southern Mexico there stands a hundred meter
tall, Maya pyramid. Carved deep into the craggy, limestone facade of this immense structure are
huge pictoglyphs of Kukulcán, the Maya Feathered Dragon Spirit. Within its thick walls, amongst
the bones of long-dead king, lies a vast treasure-trove of carved jade sculptures, emerald jewelry,
cast silver objects of art, and a kingdom’s worth of heavy, solid gold artifacts. The location of this
particular vine and lichen covered pyramid has unfortunately been lost to the world for a long
time. It stands tall, silent and patient, waiting to be rediscovered in its vast, forested cloak of trees.
What little knowledge we have of this ancient ruin comes from a very sad tale, one that begins
