AUTOMATION & PAINT ROBOTS Innovation in Robotic Painting Sean Murphy, Sales Manager – Industrial Paint Systems, FANUC UK parameter control and line tracking. The current landscape Paint robots provide a variety of highly affordable benefits for both small and large enterprises, from furniture designers and automotive to the medical and aviation industry. As robots become more intuitive and user friendly, they are gaining ground in a variety of industrial applications. The increased use of materials such as 2k polycarbonates has created a need for innovation and improvements in paint robots, with automation already presenting many advantages over manual paint applications. To meet this demand, we’ve launched one of the largest series of paint robots on the market including the FANUC P-50iB and P-250iB, which are both designed for high quality automotive finishes and industrial use, increasing speed, productivity, and system uptime. P-50iB overview: The P-50iB Robot is designed to completely paint and coat a variety of products in nearly every industry and manufacturing application. The robot reaches from 1400 to 1800 mm; its payload ranges from 10 to 15 kg, based on the P-50iB's two different models. Both models of the P-50iB can be equipped with FANUC’s patented iRVision software, which can identify parts in multiple orientations. The P-50iB has an ultra-compact design and the option of mounting the robot to the wall or a ceiling, to keep the volume of extracted air to a minimum. The P-50iB also provides a large working envelope, with 1.4 m and 1.8 m reach variants. With a payload of up to 15 kg, the P-50iB enables all types of spray gun, applicator and accessories to be used precisely, with 44 May 2014 The future rapid and accurate path control to optimise quality and to reduce overspray. With an open J3 arm the process control equipment can be easily mounted. A short internal paint line through the wrist to the applicator minimises contamination experienced from external paint lines. The purged J2 arm includes provision for one or two servomotors to drive gear pumps for accurate 1K or 2K material metering or mixing. The arm also provides a mounting for the colour change valves ensuring they are a
