ADA Dentist and Student Lobby Day
Dentists and dental students nationwide converged on Washington DC from March 30-April 1 for ADA’ s Dentist and Student Lobby Day. We had 15 members, spouses and 25 dental students representing Pennsylvania. PDA’ s contingent spent valuable time advocating for the profession while visiting with legislators and staff from almost all of Pennsylvania’ s Congressional delegation and our two senators, Sen. John Fetterman and Sen. Dave McCormick.
We discussed federal issues, such as the:
• REDI Act, which defers the interest on student loans for dentists who enter residency programs after dental school.
• DOC Access Act, which closes the federal loophole that exempts ERISA self-funded plans from states’ law that prohibits insurers from capping services they do not cover in their dental plans.
• Authorizing and funding a study by the National Institutes of Health on the safety and efficacy of Community Water Fluoridation.
Thank you to all who took part!
