Congratulations Dr . Roopali Kulkarni — 2024 ADA 10 Under 10 Award
PDA is proud to congratulate our very own Dr . Roopali Kulkarni for being one of the recipients of the ADA ’ s prestigious 10 Under 10 Award for 2024 .
Dr . Kulkarni is the assistant director of the postgraduate oral medicine residency program and an assistant professor of oral medicine at Penn Dental Medicine . She is a researcher at the World Workshop on Oral Medicine and senior fellow at the Penn Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics .
A 2019 Penn Dental graduate who also earned her Master of Public Health , in 2022 she received the school ’ s Earle Bank Hoyt Award for dedication and excellence in teaching .
Dr . Kulkarni is a member of PDA ’ s Membership Committee , former chair of PDA ’ s New Dentist Committee and was one of our 2023 inaugural recipients of the PDA 10 Under 10 Award . She also serves on the Philadelphia County Dental Society Board of Governors and is a national media spokesperson for the ADA .
“ Being a 10 Under 10 Award recipient is a dream come true ! I am humbled to be recognized alongside so many other inspiring new dentists who are already influencing the landscape of our profession ,” Dr . Kulkarni said . “ Thank you to my organized dentistry family at Philadelphia County and the PDA for the continued support , opportunities for professional development , and most importantly , for representing and advocating on behalf of all of us .”
Recently , she was honored as the recipient of PDA ’ s Recognition Award at Pennsylvania ’ s Dental Meeting , and her newest role is serving as the New Dentist Representative on the PDA Board of Trustees for 2024-25 .

Dr . Karin Brian Named New Associate Editor
Dr . Karin Brian has joined the Pennsylvania Dental Journal staff as an associate editor . Dr . Brian brings valuable experience to our team , having served in numerous communications and dental journalism roles during her exceptional career . She is currently editor of the ICD-USA Section 3 member Keynotes publication , has served as editor of the Dental Society of Chester County and Delaware County ’ s Bulletin newsletter and has additional experience as editor of their website . She is a former chair of PDA ’ s Council on Communications and Public Relations ( which is now the Communications and Public Relations Advisory Group ). Dr . Brian is currently treasurer for the Dental Society of Chester County and Delaware County , and is looking forward to continuing to serve the PDA in this role after recently completing a three-year term as Second District trustee on the PDA Board of Trustees .
