NCDHM 2023

This year , the American Dental Association ( ADA ) encouraged us to “ Brush , Floss , Smile ” during February ’ s National Children ’ s Dental Health Month ( NCDHM ).

PDA distributed information about the annual promotion and our poster contest to schools and member dentists statewide beginning in December . In addition , we used our social media channels to let elementary schools and families know about the contest . PDA ’ s electronic lesson plan kits contained an informational piece geared toward third-grade students , classroom activities , coloring sheets and interactive games . More than 1,350 complimentary posters were distributed to private and public schools , in addition to posters requested by member dentists to display in their offices .

Third-Grade Poster Contest

Lesson plan kits included instructions for entering the PDA-sponsored , third-grade poster contest , in which we annually award $ 850 in monetary prizes to the students who design the top three posters . In addition , the first-place winner ’ s school and teacher each receive $ 250 . This year , the PDA Central Office received almost 250 artistic and creative entries for judging .
