my wife Mary as chief videographer . As you can imagine , the most challenging part was keeping it to the required three minutes . Thinking about all I could have said and wanted to say to the members at those in-person meetings that never happened was something that would have taken much longer than three minutes .
Can you get to know a candidate in three minutes ? How about after they answer three questions in a forum or post a 2,500 character bio and a CV online ? These are probably questions that will never have an answer and ones that the candidates who were not successful may ponder . That being said , we all had to run a campaign under the same strange circumstance and follow the same guidelines set forth by the Election Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees .
Will virtual campaigning be the new normal ? The candidates for ADA president-elect last year had the same guidelines we did for PDA and also had to virtually campaign . The time and cost to travel around the country and the state can certainly be a barrier for the candidates , but the pandemic obviously changed the game completely . I believe all of the candidates would have liked to meet YOU in person , and hopefully candidates will have that opportunity one day again in the future !
