Nase Awarded Forensic Odontology Certification
John B. Nase, DDS, FAGD, DABFO, a general dentist from Harleysville, Montgomery County, has been awarded
the professional designation of Diplomate by the American Board of Forensic Odontology (ABFO).
Dr. Nase specializes in forensic dental identification of the deceased as well as dental age assessment and
bitemark analysis. He is a forensic expert consultant for the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office and
several of the surrounding county coroner’s offices. Dr. Nase also is a member of the Department of Health
and Human Services’ Disaster Mortuary Response Team (DMORT) as the Lead Forensic Dentist for
Region III (including PA, DE, MD, WV, VA, and DC). DMORT is a Federal team dedicated to the identification
and repatriation of victims in both man-made and natural mass fatality disasters, such as the events of
September 11, 2001 and Hurricane Katrina. Furthermore, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic
Sciences (AAFS) and presents frequently during their national annual meeting.
Dr. Nase joins an elite group of uniquely trained specialists, and is now one of only 86 practicing board certified forensic
odontologists in North America and elsewhere.
