Community Events
SIXTH DISTRICT
Dr. Albert Stush and his Stush Orthodontics staff members visited
Meadowbrook Christian School in Milton and addressed 225
students ranging from Pre-K through fifth grade. They had large
blow up teeth to teach the younger students and played “Speak
Out” with the older students wearing lip retractors and trying to
get their teammates to guess dental sentences. All students
received brushes, floss and tooth timers to promote brushing for
two minutes.
SEVENTH DISTRICT
Betar Dental & Associates offered two “free kids’ day” events, on
February 10 and February 24. They provided a variety of services,
including exams, prophys, radiographs and sealants. Betar Dental
& Associates is committed to the dental health of the children
in their community and plans to continue to strive to meet the
dental needs of children.
Dr. Nicole Oravec visited four Cambria County schools and more
than 200 kids ranging from preschool to second grade. Dr. Oravec
dressed students up as the dentist to show the steps of a dental
prophy and exam. She also demonstrated flossing and brushing
techniques and explained healthy and unhealthy drinks and
snacks, focusing on soda, and also did an experiment where they
"grew" plaque showing how increased sugar causes more plaque
to grow. Every student left with a toothbrush and poster and
some even got to dress up as a tooth or a tooth fairy.
TENTH DISTRICT
For the past 24 years, Dr. Pamela Brennan Clarke, a PDA member
in Robinson Township, has been visiting a local preschool at Holy
Trinity Catholic School in McKees Rocks. Dr. Clarke speaks to the
3 and 4 year olds at Holy Trinity about the importance of dental
care and shows them how to brush and floss their teeth.
