Fifth District
Central Susquehanna Valley Dental Society Dr. Albert Stush and his staff visited with students in Kindergarten through fifth grade at Meadowbrook Christian School. The students enjoyed a video,“ How to Have a Bright Smile.” They also participated in a craft project, making lips out of construction paper and using cotton pellets for teeth. Third and fourth grade students played Dental Bingo and enjoyed another video,“ Why do I have to go to the Dentist?” Staff members promoted healthy drinks and spoke to students about looking for the sugar content in their own drinks. The staff spoke to nine different classes during the course of the day and then gave out brushes, toothpaste and floss to all of the students.
The Alliance of Lancaster County Dental Society
The Alliance of Lancaster County Dental Society was very active again this year. Assisted by the local Boy Scouts of Troop 84, the alliance gathered on February 4 to help pack dental health kits for distribution to the needy throughout Lancaster County.
The Alliance members provided the materials for the kits, which were assembled at St. Peter ' s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the home base of Troop 84. The Scouts and Alliance members stuffed toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss and mouthwash into individual packs for over 1,700 recipients. Alliance members delivered the kits to shelters and organizations throughout Lancaster County.
“ Many thanks to Melissa Voler, who chaired the event this year, and to the 15 Scouts and their Scout Masters who showed up to help,” said Stephanie Grambau, President of the Alliance to the Lancaster County Dental Society.
