As I write this report for the magazine, it is with pride that I reflect on the recent success of Q15. With entries up 15% and over $100,000 paid out in prize money, trophies and product, the Australian Quarter Horse Championships were a resounding success. The Lope for Cancer event raised over $2,000 for Cancer Research and was a fun event for all present. With participation of people from across Australia, as well as New Zealand and New Caledonia, this show is the most prestigious event to attend in the Nation. A showcase of “everything Quarter Horse”, it is an event that cannot be missed for the serious Quarter Horse enthusiast. A reminder to everyone who has a stallion that was bred within the 2014 season -note that Breeding returns are due by the 31st of May this year. To ensure that a penalty is not applied, these need to be lodged at the office by this date. The Trans Tasman competition for Youth and Amateur competitors will be held in New Zealand during 6the-12th October. Nominations have closed and will be considered at the June Board Meeting. The successful applicants shall be notified immediately after the Board Meeting. With careful judgement by the AQHA Board, the AQHA continues to function in a healthy condition. Solar Panels are being placed on the storage shed and upper roof of the AQHA office. These shall reduce the cost of power to the office by ¾ of the current bill over a year. The Board of Directors continues to work in the best interests of you, the membership. Congratulations go to Tom Hanrahan from Victoria who was the winner of a travel voucher from Flight Centre to the value of $4,000 just for being a current member of AQHA! Have a great trip and thanks for being a member. As has been well publicised, the 20th International American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup competition will be held at AELEC, Tamworth from 23 June to 3 July 2016. With the expectation of at least 13 teams attending, generally made up of 5 riders, AQHA is seeking the assistance of members to aid in the supply of quality Quarter Horses to ensure the success of this wonderful Youth development program. If you have any thoughts of loaning your horse, along with its gear and blankets, please contact the AQHA office and register your interest. This will allow us to contact you closer to the time when we need these mounts and organise all the logistics. We thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter. Till we catch up again Regards Pauline Stuart-Fox AQHA President 2014/2015 Page 6 • The Australian Quarter Horse Magazine • May • June 2015
