“ It’ s all part of the revolution,” says Taylor.“ Ten years ago, resin sheds were almost non-existent in the Australian market. You may have had one or two to choose from. We’ ve brought that up [ to ] around 20 sheds now, while our competitors have expanded their ranges as well.”
Creative constructions
There’ s no trick to choosing wisely, says Taylor: simply to weigh up your requirements, measure your space and explore the options. Layouts, colours and textures are all up for grabs.“ Our current shed range offers a rough texture, which gives that wood aesthetic, for example,
but without the high maintenance of weathering and having a repaint,” says Taylor,“ and then we have deck boxes that suit that same colour scheme.”
The shed renaissance is upon us. And just like the slightly more famous original Renaissance of the 15th and 16th centuries, the only limit is your imagination. When looking to unlock the possibilities in your own backyard, creativity is key.
“ They’ re labelled as sheds, obviously, but we’ ve had people install an 8 x 10-foot [ 2.4m x 3m ] or an 8 x 15-foot [ 2.4m x 4.5m ] unit to use them as home offices, or workshops, or cubbies, or even just spaces to get a bit of respite from the children,” says Taylor.“ Chook houses, dog breeding, studios – it’ s exciting, and with interlocking wall panels and floor panels, it’ s integrally structurally sound, as well as watertight and rodent and rot proof.”
“ Your shed can be whatever you want it to be and it should enhance your yard,” adds Huynh.“ Plus, when you purchase a shed from Costco, you’ ll enjoy a highquality product from leading local and international suppliers – and at a very competitive price.”

SHED MASTERS
Believe it or not, some of the world’ s finest literature emerged from backyard bolt-holes. Roald Dahl: The genius behind

1 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and The BFG wrote for four hours each day for 35 years in a backyard shed in Buckinghamshire.“ I couldn’ t possibly work in the house,” said Dahl. Virginia Woolf: The

2 legendary author penned Mrs Dalloway and more from her shed, dubbed‘ the writing lodge’.“[ I ] carry my pitcher full of lucid and deep water across the garden … take my writing board on my knee; and let myself down, like a diver, very cautiously into the last sentence I wrote yesterday,” Woolf said. Henry Lawson: According

3 to historians, Lawson’ s 1892 work When the Ladies Come to the Shearing Shed may have been written while the Australian poet worked as a rouseabout / labourer near Bourke, NSW.“ And nothing is heard, save a whispered word,” wrote Lawson.“ And the roar of the shearing-shed.”
