Aging Customer Base Reshapes Restaurants
By 2030, people in the U. S. aged 65 and older are expected to account for 18 % of all restaurant spending, an increase from 10 % in 2025, according to Technomic. While restaurants often target younger audiences as up-and-coming and frequent customers, older diners tend to spend substantially more per visit.“ The opportunity isn’ t to become senior-focused. It’ s to become frictionless,” said Philip Daus, partner and head of the Houston office at Simon-Kucher. As the U. S. customer base ages, experts suggest that restaurateurs adapt their physical spaces and menus to engender cross-generational appeal. Steps for doing that include making menus more accessible and focusing on occasions that drive dining, rather than appealing to particular demographic groups. Visit bit. ly / RestAge.

Healthcare Hearing Dissects Affordability
A House Energy and Commerce health subcommittee recently conducted a hearing on“ Lowering Health Care Costs for All Americans: An Examination of the U. S. Provider Landscape.” At the March 18 session, lawmakers examined the burgeoning crisis in healthcare affordability. Groups from across the healthcare industry offered first-hand accounts of thinning financial coverage, costs increasing faster than payments, and the administrative friction these trends put on patients and providers. In 2025, hospitals spent more than $ 43 billion attempting to collect payments that insurers already owed for care already delivered. Meanwhile, spending on medical supplies, equipment and technology rose 9.9 % and drug costs spiked by 13 %. The hearing underscored the need to keep the healthcare industry both viable and affordable. Visit bit. ly / healthhear. TS
