Spring cleaning activities are going on around campus

Spring has definitely sprung here in Charbonneau! I feel as if we are all coming out of a long hibernation, waiting( im-) patiently for
SHEVLIN the rainy weather to
subside and the sun to shine. Our snowbird neighbors have returned from their winter homes and we welcome them back. From my kitchen window I am able to observe the number of walkers and bike riders increasing on a daily basis.
There are a number of“ spring cleaning” activities going on around campus. Sand has been added to the turf at the off-leash dog area at Edith Green Park. We have just completed our first full winter at the dog park and are learning of the need to fortify the grass in order to keep the mud down. Benches and double-gated entrances will also be added. We will continue to monitor the turf area to assure we have a safe and enjoyable facility for our furry pets and their human companions.
Soon, we will also see bocce ball players at the park. This is a fun and easy way to get outdoors for a non-strenuous activity for the young and not-so-young to enjoy and meet their neighbors.
The retail center at the Villager Center has been undergoing a major exterior renovation throughout the winter and spring. Hopefully by the time this article goes to print, the work will be completed and we will be able to enjoy breakfast or lunch on the patio next to Lux Sucre, our ever-popular bakery. Lumiere, the new restaurant, should be open for business soon as well. Translated from the French, Lumiere(“ loomy-air”) refers to light, or the brightness given by the sun, a flame or a lamp. Additionally, the grounds outside the covered sports courts will also be receiving some landscaping, adding to the beauty of our lovely community.
With the completion of these building projects, we should see a number of parking places in the lower lot open up. These spaces have been filled with construction materials and equipment for a number of months and have created limited parking at times when there is a lot happening. As golfing activity increases this spring and summer, and we come out to enjoy food and beverages in our Village Center or attend any event at our Clubhouse or Activity Center, adequate parking is of prime interest. CCC’ s Asset
Management Committee has been looking at ways to maximize available parking and the Golf Course board of directors is also exploring options. In the meantime, residents who own a golf cart are encouraged to drive their cart to events, even when not golfing. If you do not golf, you may find that owning and driving an electric golf cart is a convenient way to get around the community, as well as a way to save expenses on the increasing cost of gasoline.
Ballots will be out in early May for you to select three directors for the CCC Board. Please be sure to fill out your ballot and either mail it in, or drop it off at the Activity Center. All Charbonneau residents are invited to attend the annual meeting on Wednesday, May 21 at 6 p. m. in the Clubhouse. This is a“ member’ s meeting,” not a board meeting. Each board director will be present to share the work they have done this past year for their respective areas of responsibility, to answer your questions and listen to your ideas. We want to hear from you on how we can continually make Charbonneau the best place to live and play.
There are a number of activities slated in the community over the next few months. Summer is shaping up to be full of entertaining events and opportunities for us to get out and enjoy the fun. I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood.
