7 th Annual Engineers Day Conference
June 10-12, 2025 Presented by ASCE-NH & Shea Concrete Products
between busy academic years, Alex discovered her love for the mountains through her work as a zip line guide and as a via ferrata guide in North Carolina and West Virginia. In her free time, she was able to explore her interests in hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and mountain meteorology. She also completed a thru hike of the 211-mile John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California in 2020.
In the summer of 2021, Alex wanted to gain a deeper understanding of mountain meteorology and was lucky enough to intern at the Mount Washington Observatory. She fell in love with the White Mountains and the Obs’ mission and decided to go for a full-time Weather Observer and Education Specialist role in July of 2022. Being a meteorologist at the Mount Washington Observatory is a perfect combination of meteorology and adventure that aligns with Alex’ s lifestyle perfectly. She enjoys being able to experience extreme weather atop Mount Washington while on shift and taking advantage of many of the outdoor recreation opportunities in New England during her time off the mountain.
