First Niners Scramble is approaching What fun we had meeting our new members . Thanks to Kim Warram and Sharon Garrick for hosting this fun
FIEWEGER event . All have a
Big Sister . Thanks to those who stepped up to acquaint them with the Niners Play .
The 2023 season is just beginning . The Welcome Back Coffee was a wonderful success . Thanks to Lindy Anderson and her committee , we enjoyed homemade pastries and fresh fruit cups . Congratulations to those winning our three door prizes . Renowned USGA official Jim Gibbons joined us and gave a presentation of “ new rules for 2023 !” We liked the “ accidental ” putt on the green . So if you hit the ball and it does not go in the hole , it was an accident ? For some reason Jim did not agree . So if you accidentally hit the ball on the green with your putter , you can move it back .
Yeah , payouts are back and an additional flight has been added . We will now award four flights ; winnings will be in pro shop credit . All new members have signed up for the “ eclectic .” Sandy McCallister is thrilled .

Our first Niners Scramble is on Tuesday , May 9 . These fun events are looked forward to by the members of Charbonneau ladies nine-hole golf league . The theme is “ Golf Babes ,” paying homage to 50 years of golf here at Charbonneau . If you have any vintage golf clothing items hiding away in your closet , this would be a good time to show them off ! There will be nine holes of play in the traditional scramble format followed by a pizza luncheon in the Event Center . The cost of golf is $ 22 and the lunch is $ 17 . Signup is now open in the Niners ’ Scramble book in the pro shop . Pay by one check in the Niners ’ slot in the pro shop . You may also sign up and pay online at www . ladiesninersgolf . com . The deadline is May 3 at 5 p . m .
We welcome a new member , Jan Taylor . Thank you Cheryl Von Bergen for encouraging her to join us . Jan is a native Oregonian . She and her husband ( also native Oregonian ) were living in Eagle Crest . He passed away last year and she wanted to get closer to her two daughters who lived in Newberg . He was a Duck , so “ go Ducks .” They were season ticket holders for all football games . She has six grandchildren . Her two

Take a class and save a life The class is free . The life saved is priceless .
If you found someone you love unresponsive and not breathing , could you save their life ?
When CPR , cardiopulmonary resuscitation , or defibrillation with an AED , automatic external defibrillator , are performed , survival rates increase two-to-three times .
Charbonneau ’ s Emergency Preparedness and Public Safety Committee is promoting AED , CPR and First Aid training for all residents . We have offered CPR / First Aid training to our volunteer emergency captains and medical staff and are now offering free CPR / AED training for all residents .
Charbonneau has seven AEDs available for emergencies , three in the Activity Center , two in the golf shop , one in the event center , and one in the tennis center . Several homeowners association pool houses also have , or are considering adding , AEDs .
But , without the knowledge or confidence of how to use an AED or do CPR , chances of revival fade . The

following options may help you act when you are called upon to save a life :
AEDs are easy-touse . Once you push the on button , it will verbally walk you through the steps on how to use the device .
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue teaches free handsonly CPR / AED classes at Charbonneau Country Club or your HOA ’ s pool house ( see below for detail ).
EPPS is working with a vendor to teach the American Heart Association curriculum for First AID , CPR and AED at the CCC ( see below for detail ).
The Red Cross offers an online First Aid , CPR and AED class : https :// www . redcross . org / take-a-class /.
TVF & R has a class scheduled at the Charbonneau Activity Center on May 3 and more can be scheduled either at the Activity Center or your own HOA poolhouse . The optimal class size is 20 . The class lasts about an hour and it includes practicing on a training AED and a CPR mannequin .
EPPS can also schedule a full First Aid , CPR and AED class at the Activity Center if there is interest . This is a three-hour class and will cost each resident $ 60- $ 65 depending on class size . Completion of the class provides a two-year certification card .
