PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE
With Memorial Day on the horizon , I think it is safe to say that summer has arrived . We have the family vacation planned , the kids have camp in their eyes , and the amount of learning by my two elementary school age sons seems to be dwindling by the day .
Summer is a great time to enjoy the weather , spend time with friends and family , or in my wife ’ s case , get more animals ! We have been raising pigs for a dozen years or so for meat and really enjoy the overall process of knowing where our meat comes from , that it is well taken care of , and that there isn ’ t anything in those animals that shouldn ’ t be . Doesn ’ t hurt that the taste is amazing either ! This year we have expanded to breeding and hope to have piglets of our own in the spring so that we no longer need to scramble and buy them every year . Tack on another 30 or so chickens , some cats , some dogs , and who knows what else and we are soon to have quite the menagerie .
We were extremely fortunate to have our final Lunch and Learn presentation from CDMSmith presented by Mahmood Kwaja , PE about the upcoming CSO tunnel project in Manchester , NH . A fascinating and informative talk that discussed the design and other aspects of a truly unique and transformative project for the City . See the write-up later in this newsletter .
I am extremely grateful and proud of our lunch and learn series and all of the hard work that the board has put into hosting these events , especially by Past-President Aaron Cheever . We have been fortunate enough to consistently have attendances over 100 people and it is thanks to great presentations and Aaron ’ s dedication !
Don ’ t forget that we will soon be announcing the upcoming annual meeting as well as hosting our Annual Golf Tournament August 11 th at Beaver Meadows in Concord , NH . I hope to see you all there !
Enjoy the sun !
My best to you and yours , Owen Friend-Gray PE ASCE-NH President
