In your role as a maintenance technician , you ’ ll need to know about the pipes behind the walls of your apartment community . In particular , you ’ ll need to know what can go wrong with them , and how to make a few simple repairs . This class will teach you the essential components of pipes , fittings and cleanouts and how they impact your role as a maintenance professional .

How It Works : Major Appliances
Repairing appliances can be time-consuming and expensive . The good news is that maintenance staff can make a difference in the number of service requests generated in the future by ongoing actions . Carefully checking the operation of appliances during make-ready inspections and performing routine maintenance ( i . e ., clearing lint from the outside dryer vent , removing build-up from the refrigerator coils ) minimizes the frustration caused by appliances that are not functioning properly or stop working completely .
During this course , students will be able to disassemble and reassemble major appliances to gain a better understanding of the equipment and how it can be repaired .

Cooling Systems Simple Fixes And Preventative Maintenance
Sometimes , a seemingly difficult air conditioning problem can be solved with the simplest of solutions . Attendees will learn some simple fixes and complex repairs for air conditioning systems .
