April 2022 ASCE-NH Section Lunch & Learn Webinar Summary

The April 2022 ASCE-NH Section Lunch and Learn Webinar was extremely well attended via Zoom Video Communications , bringing over 90 attendees together ! It was the webinar program ’ s fourth installment during 2022 for ASCE-NH Members ( and Non-Members ) to receive PDHs from ASCE-NH ’ s educational initiative ; make sure to remain on the lookout for these exceptional presentations throughout the year .

The April Webinar was led by Paul Schmitz ( Market Manager – Public Roads ) and Jeremy Cohen ( Northeast Regional Sales Manager ), of Tensar International Corporation . Though Tensar offers a wide variety of geosynthetics ( geotextiles , geogrids , geonets geocells , geomembranes , etc .), the webinar was focused on geogrids and their use in roadway design . As highlighted throughout , the three mechanisms of geogrids include aggregate confinement , improved bearing capacity , and tension membrane effect ; ultimately , these mechanisms act together to make the stone perform better . Through numerous project examples attendees were shown real-world applications of the design methodologies for incorporating geogrids into the installations for pavement optimization , as well as the cost benefits a Town / City / Agency could gain from their inclusion .

Thank you to Paul Schmitz and Jeremy Cohen , for their time and effort to make the April Webinar exceptional ; the ‘ peak behind the curtain ’ of Tensar ’ s testing and evolution of geogrids ( biaxial-to-TriAxto-InterAx ) was also extremely interesting and appreciated . Lastly , thank you to all of those in attendance ; please make sure to sign-up for the May Lunch and Learn Webinar , which will take place on Thursday the 26 th ( registration included within this Newsletter ).
