PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE

We have almost arrived ... We are officially just under two weeks from Memorial Day Weekend where I personally declare summertime ! I hope that everyone is enjoying the recent warmth and all the outdoor events that come with this time of year . Whatever your preference – golf , baseball / softball , lacrosse , cycling , jogging , walking the dog , mowing the lawn , gardening , etc . – they all tend to be more enjoyable when it is warm outside . Like the trees and flowers , patio season is nearly in full bloom ; nothing better than enjoying your beverage of choice outside , with family and friends by your side . And congratulations to everyone that is celebrating their own or a loved one ’ s recent / upcoming graduation !

As someone that spends a lot of their work week on construction sites this time of year , the warm weather also makes my workdays more enjoyable . However , this time of year comes with some ‘ sneaky risk ’ in the form of sunburns . With my wife being in Dermatology I cannot echo her words enough – make sure to cover-up and / or wear your sunscreen when outside . If you run into me in the field or at a golf tournament , please do not hesitate to ask for some sunscreen ; I always have some on me or in my truck .

ASCE-NH Section continued our 1-PDH Monthly Lunch & Learn Webinar Series at the end of April . Thank you to our presenters , Paul Schmitz and Jeremy Cohen of Tensar International Corporation , as well as everyone that joined us ; we again had a great turnout with 90 attendees ! Registration for the May Webinar is included within this Newsletter and will take place on Thursday the 26 ^th . Might I add , it will be a great way to jumpstart an early Memorial Day Weekend !

The May Webinar is anticipated to be the final one of our 2021 / 2022 Program Year . However , our ‘ Annual Meeting ’ will be taking place in either June or July ( TBD at the next BOD Meeting ); said meeting , whether in-person or virtual , will have another 1-PDH Webinar opportunity . Be on the lookout for information , as well as some exciting announcements that will take place in the near future that will be celebrated at that time – the Outstanding Civil Engineering Award ( OCEA ) winner , our annual ASCE-NH scholarship recipients , and the new Board of Directors for the 2022 / 2023 Program Year .
