For Lukasz Swistun , MD , an esteemed board-certified plastic surgeon who recently came onboard at LJC , this includes nonprofits such as Promises2Kids , Humble Design , and the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation .

A little background on Dr . Swistun … he attended the University of Illinois for medical school and general surgery after earning a degree in visual arts from the University of Chicago . After serving as a naval medical officer and deploying with the U . S . Marines during active conflicts , he earned his M . D . from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at the University of Utah . There , he focused on hand , breast , craniofacial anomalies , lower extremity , and general reconstruction surgery . Prior to joining LJC , Dr . Swistun worked with Dr . William Rahal at Verona Plastic Surgery after completing an Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship with Beverly Hills Physicians .
Dr . Swistun is a published and professional photographer and a recent winner of multiple regional photo contests . He combines his rich visual arts background with years of multi-specialty surgical experience . He and his wife Dominika , a PhD psychologist , were born in Poland and came to the US in their teens . They have three children and are thrilled to be living back in their favorite city , San Diego .
