Community Garden 2020 CSA Membership
You will be happy to know that despite many hardships
and potential pitfalls, we are on track to open the plots
with only a few minor adjustments. We are doing our best
to follow all state and CDC requirements and will do our
best to keep you safe while at Historic Wagner Farm. We are happy to announce Wagner Farm and NSSED are
joining forces again this year to offer CSA shares at the farm.
OPENING DATE
Staff are working as hard as they can to get the plots open as
soon as possible. The Park District will not be reopening until
at least May 30, per the Stay at Home order. In the meantime,
we have tilled the beds and will soon be staking out the plots.
As of today, the beds are not ready to plant. It is still way too
wet and the soil temperature is still around 55 degrees. As
soon as everything is ready, we will let those who've reserved
plots know and they will be able to get started. A few plots
remain, but act quick, as space is very limited!
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a fun,
economical way to buy local, fresh produce while supporting
your local farm and our youth educational opportunities.
CSA members receive a bushel basket filled with different
varieties of produce for 15 weeks starting the last week
of June and ending at the beginning of October. Our CSA
program officially has sold out this year, and we will get more
information out to all our shareholders very soon!
Student farmers from NSSED’s Be@thefarm program will
be working alongside Wagner staff farmers and college
agriculture interns this summer to grow and harvest
produce. The program is just one way the farm can use their
agricultural expertise and help provide for our community.
CSA Memberships are now sold out for the 2020 season.
However, if you have any further questions or concerns, email
us. Emails are the best way for us to keep in touch. We spend
most of our time out in the field, so please allow a day or two
for email responses.
