(Continued from page 15) Rene spent many years racing both at Riverside Speedway in Groveton and on the ACT circuit. During these years, he established many lifelong friendships. When he hung up his helmet, he enjoyed the sport as an avid fan and attended numerous events with his racing companion and niece, Kelly. In his “spare time”, Rene enjoyed taking Elaine for a ride on his Harley. For many years, they attended the Americade in Lake George, N.Y. for a mini getaway. He is survived by his loving, dedicated, wife and business partner of 28 years, Elaine R. LaLumiere; his mother, Janice N. LaLumiere of Whitefield; his daughter Nicole L. Santaw and her husband, Timothy G. Santaw, Sr. of Swanzey; two brothers, Michael W. LaLumiere and his companion Lucy Weeks of Whitefield and Lance A. All those who really knew Rene, admired his quick wit, his magnetic personality, his sense of humor, welcoming smile and strong work ethics and will be greatly missed by all. Visiting hours will be held Friday evening May 6, from 7-9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. Wells, 53, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, May 2, 2016, while at work in Berlin. He was born in Concord on July 26, 1962, a son to Irving C. and Barbara H. (Kelsea) Wells. He was raised in Pembroke and graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1980. On his summer vacations, Dan worked for his uncle, Lawrence Kelsea, in Colebrook, on the family dairy farm. Danny moved to the North Country, which he loved, in 1982. For more than 25 years, Dan worked the farm with his uncle. Although later in life, he worked many different jobs, his passion had always been working the farm. He also took great pride and spent countless hours at his Christmas tree farm every year. Dan enjoyed woodworking and he loved to call his friends and neighbors to chat about politics and the issues of the day. He was an all-around good Samaritan who would drop whatever he was doing to help someone else. He also cherished time spent with his children and his grandson. Dan served his community as an elected member of the Columbia school board and also on the Columbia planning board. He leaves behind his wife and partner of 36 years, Jennifer (Ladd) Wells of Columbia; a son, Bruce Wells of Columbia; his daughter Whitney Wells of Colebrook; his mother, Barbara Wells of Antrim; a brother, Douglas Wells and wife Jane of Pembroke; his sister, Diane Nijensohn and husband Sam of Sheffield, Vt.; one grandson, Maynard Wells; very special cousins, Debbie Brooks, Janet Culver and Jimmy Kelsea; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Irving C. Wells, Jr., in 1992. Calling hours will be on Monday, May 9, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins and Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Celebration of Life to honor Danny will be held at a later date of which notice will be given. Danny’s final resting place will be in the Keach Cemetery in Columbia. Expressions of sympathy in Paul L. Gagne PAUL L. GAGNE ERROL—Paul L. Gagne, 64, of Errol, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 3, 2016, at the Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown, with his wife by his side and after a long period of poor health. He was born on Aug. 29, 1951, in Norwalk, Conn., a son to Gilbert Gagne and Lucille (Fredette) Gagne. He was raised in Connecticut and was a graduate of the Abbott Technical School in Danbury. He also attended Keene State College and the Danbury Vocational Technical Institute. Paul served his country during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Navy, and later he served 20 years in the Army National Guard, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. Paul was a machinist by trade, and he worked at many different places in the area, including Barden’s Machine Shop, the Berlin Machine Shop, and he taught the vocational program at Berlin High School. He also worked for James River Paper Corp., and for D and E Screw in Colebrook. Paul was a former selectman of the town of Errol. In his spare time, Paul loved to hunt and fish, and he loved to travel to Montana with his special buddy, Casper Cafolla from Connecticut, for the hunting and fishing there. Paul leaves behind his wife, Donna (Lombardo) Gagne of Errol; his mother, Lucille Gagne of New Fairfield, Conn.; a brother, Robert Gagne of Berlin, and Donald Gagne (Mary Ellen) of Wallingford, Conn.; a sister, Denise Kurpiewski (Stan) of New Fairfield; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Gagne, and a brother, Maurice Gagne. There are no public calling hours. A graveside commital with military honors will be later in the summer in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Berlin, and notice will be given. (Continued on page 19)
