SPEEDWAY 51 VALENTI
MODIFIED SERIES
One of the most celebrated
season opening events at Speedway 51 in Groveton is set to
debut The NAPA Spectacular on
Saturday, May 28 at 5 p.m. The
renowned Valenti Modified Racing Series will make its first ever
appearance on the high banked,
quarter-mile asphalt facility
nicknamed “Grovetona.”
There hasn’t been this much
buzz surrounding an event since
last falls season ending Fall
Brawl took place. Track owner
Joey Laquerre stated, “The
phone is ringing off the hook.
Drivers that have never been
here before are calling about
motel rooms, setups for their
racecars, gear options and directions on how to get to the track.
We are expecting a full house for
this event.” Not only are the race
teams excited, but long time race
fans like Dennis Therrien said,
“I haven’t been to Speedway 51
in over 10 years, but I am planning to attend the NAPA Spectacular. The Valenti Modified
Racing Series always puts on a
great show.”
Joining the Valenti Modified
Racing Series will be the North
Country Ford Late Models, The
Sign Depot Tigers, Pepsi
/Schweppes Street Stocks, White
Mountain Community College
Pure Stocks, and the AB Excavating Daredevils. Post time for
this giant event is 5 p.m.
Several events take place in downtown Groveton this weekend to kick off the opening of Speedway 51.

The final pre-season car show
will fill the streets of Groveton
on May 21 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Racers will unload their mounts
at 10 a.m. and park along State
Street. Expected to be on hand
will be the North Country Ford
Late Models, The Sign Depot
Tigers, Pepsi/Schweppes Street
Stocks, White Mountain Community College Pure Stocks, The AB
Excavating Daredevils, North
Country Family Restaurant Kids
Go Karts, and the North Country
Ford Mustang pace car.
At noon the first-ever Pit Stop
Contest will take place featuring
2015 championship crews competing against each other in a
timed event. The competing
teams include Late Model champ
Jeff Marshall, Tiger kingpin,
Brendan Moodie, Street Stock
mogul, Jean Leblanc and Daredevil title holder, Kasey Beattie.
At 1 p.m. the cars will parade
through town to Brown Road.
The cars will complete their journey at Speedway 51. Tech and
pictures will follow the parade
and then a practice for all cars
that were at the car show. The
car show is free to all, and there
will be free admission to the
grandstands to watch practice.
