Farnhamville Post 510 Has Flags For Sale
By Shari Everhart Members of the Farnhamville Legion Post 510 issue a reminder they have American flags for sale .
The flags can be ordered in various sizes , nylon or polyester fabric through the Farnhamville Legion . There are numerous other flags that can be ordered such as military branch , POW and the State of Iowa flags to name just a few .
Purchasing a flag through the local Legion post allows them to receive points . The Farnhamville post uses their points through the point system to buy replacement flags for the “ Avenue of Flags ” set up at Reading Township Cemetery during the Memorial Day weekend in May .
Several special dates coming up this year providing an excellent opportunity to show patriotism , remembrance and pride in one ’ s country by flying “ Old Glory ” include :
Armed Forces Day on May 15th ; Memorial Day , May 30th / 31st ; Flag Day on June 14th ; Independence Day , July 4th ; Patriot Day on September 11th ; Gold Star Mother ’ s Day on September 25th ; Veterans Day / Armistice Day on November 11th ; Pearl Harbor Day on December 7th ; and every day of the week through the year .
Those who may have damaged or torn flags may turn them into the local Legion post in their respective communities . Citizens are reminded to NEVER destroy or throw a flag away , but to see that it is given to the Legion for disposal in a dignified ceremony . Flags may be turned in locally to Post 510 Commander MIke Ewing or any American Legion of Sons of the American Legion member .
Fly the “ Stars and Stripes ” this year as a show of support and love of the United States of America !
