sport that spans the globe over, horse racing that is, and is an organized sport with its own regulating body to boot.

As refreshing as this may sound, it was not always the case.A glimpse into historical horseracing in fact is a sport that was full of what is known as the criminal element by the mid 18th century United States. Like most societies, a group of stable owners joined forces to ceate the current regulating structure in the United States called the American jockey Club as it is still known as today.

The concept of horse racing has been documented as earlier as 4500 BC by nomads in Asia who developed a system of horse racing based off horse racing events that were reported by Greeks hundreds of years ealier as an Olympic competition.

The Greeks used horses drawn by chariot and as mounted horse for transportation throught their existence. Horse racing became a luxury sport for the wealthy and nobility.

The current system of horse racing started around the 12th century when breeders began breeding Arabian horses with English horses. The foals or children of the horse breeders were shipped off to England. Once in England, it was discovered that the foals were sturdy horses and possessed excellent speed. This breed of horse is today called the "Thoroughbred" that is mostly found in England.

From that time onward throughout the centuries various English Nobles have had private racetracks built and have had races held there as well.

The most famous of those private tracks is Queen Anne who founded the modern day Ascot in 1711. Witth the creation of Ascot, horse racing was declared an official sport in England.

A club for Jockeys also known as riders of the horse for racing purposes known as the Jockey Club was tasked with creating rules, and standards for the sport. The first set of Jockeys became the Oerseeing body of the sport and events.

The sport did eventually find its way to the United States, about 150 years after it was founded. The very first racetrack wwas built in the Long Island section of New York State. After the Civil War, and reconstruction and a general move to industrialization, horse racing and horse gambling inceased inpopularity.

Since those days a lot has changed.More regulations on horse betting specigically in the United States. One thing is consistant: the love of the breeders to breed better horses, the love of the horse owners to have stronger and faster horses and the ove of betting on them.

Which is sure to draw a crowd of epic proportions throught he various racetracks around the world from April to August each year.
