“Choosing a career is one of life's biggest choicest.”
Another thing to consider when choosing a career path is what can you handle emotionally or physically. If looking at blood let's say makes you squeamish, then you know that most likely parts of the medical field although high paying may not be a good fit for you.
Exploring these areas are important because ultimately you have to be able to get up and do said career choice daily. If you dislike what you do, no matter how good the pay is, you will find it challenging to give it a fair chance of being what you want. The goal of any career is to be in a situation that lets you grow. Your initial intention may be to just have money, but as time goes by you will want other things thus creating other goals. If the place or career you choose to be in doesn't make you feel there is wiggle room to grow; either up or even sideways there is a good chance you will develop a dislike for what you do.
Choosing a career is one of life's biggest choicest. The attitude you have toward that choice should help you. The good part is it does not have to be the only career for yourself. Although changing careers can be a stressful situation it is not as unusual as it used to be.
Often times after doing something for a long time we often close our minds to other possibilities or we feel we don't have the luxury of time to experiment like we did when we were starting out.
For those types of people, we have career change tests or assessments to help us look within ourselves and look at what we have done from a different perspective; look at ourselves from the outside so to speak.
.
The assessments are by no means the only thing to consider when changing a career however, it may give you a start in terms of general industries you may want to peruse.
With the internet being such a dominate thing in our lives, that choice has become a lot easier.
The way the assessments work is you will answer anywhere between 50-100 questions regarding your personality and or abilities. Your answers once tallied will match general industries or fields like artist, extrovert, introvert etc. The highest amount tallied under a specific category indicates you are well suited to that category or field of work.
One thing to note is that most people rank relatively high in multiple areas and therefore can offer you other choices of career due your personality or qualities and traits you have. The best thing to do with these choices is to explore if subcategories are of interest to you whether they fall under the high number of results or the low number. The idea is to keep an open mind and see what new thing that excites you is your next goal.
Although many people feel that an assessment tool can not totally tell you things about yourself, they are a good starting point for those who want to see other options they have not considered before.
Assessments are available online some are free others for a nominal fee. Some assessment are put out by Headhunter or Career Coach agencies that are willing to work with someone who is changing a career.
