Keeping Things Cool
I am wondering how I can use ebb and flow and chill my solution outdoors . I have a 20-gallon tray and I suppose I could use a 40- or 50-gallon reservoir , but is there an easier way ? Donald
Editor ’ s Note : Thanks for the question , Donald . We turned to one of our writers for some advice . Eric Hopper says : “ Implementing a water chiller is the most effective way to keep a reservoir cool . A water chiller is a device , much like an air conditioner , that intakes water ( or nutrient solution ) from the reservoir , cools it , and returns it to the reservoir . Water chillers need to be sized for the volume of liquid in the reservoir so they can adequately cool the liquid . If you do not wish to use a water chiller , having the largest volume of water possible and storing it in a shaded location is your best bet . A large volume of water is essentially a large thermal mass , which means it will take a long time to heat up .”

I ’ m a fan of Maximum Yield because it contains very informative articles . It has saved my crops a few times . With the magazine I can stay up to date on all the new and best equipment in the industry . Terry
Making Jobs Easier
Whenever I go to the grow store , I always make sure to grab a Maximum Yield magazine on my way out the door . For years it has been the best source of plant knowledge I can grab off the rack and immediately read something that ’ s relevant to the rest of the day or week .
