Your plants love beer as much
as you do. Thankfully, though,
they’re not picky. Plants don’t care
if their beer is fresh, so passing off
leftovers from a party or tailgate,
or brews that have expired (yes,
beer does expire), isn’t a problem.
There is a body of anecdotal
evidence that suggests it is
possible to infect plants with
powdery mildew transferred by
bamboo stakes.

You should sanitize everything
before growing. This is a common
issue. I’ve seen wine corks used as
stoppers in hydro tanks that formed
botryitis. I use a trash can filled with
diluted sanitizer; you can sanitize
hundreds of stakes this way.

If you grow indoors, I always
recommend a “bake” of your room
in between runs. Get the room
115°F for 24 hours. Easiest way to
do it is leave your lights on. No A/C.
Run your dehumidifier. Leave your
bamboo in the room under the
lights. The heat will kill mold and
bugs alike… What can survive 115°F
for 24 hours?? Nothing. Insects
and mold will both dry and die.
Everything’s anatomy is made for a
day and night cycle. Take the break
of night away and they will wither.
