Aeroponic Technology Versus Premium Organic Soil Cultivation Part IV: Habanero Chile
Climate shifts fast here in the Rockies, and so it is of no
surprise that those who utilize sunrooms and/or greenhouses
can fall victim to drastic temperature variation if insulation and
environmental control are minimal. Luckily in this situation the
garden is a custom built sunroom, capable of sharing the same
ambient air with two adjacent areas fed completely through
controlled central air and heat. After minor adjustment the
garden is back up to a healthy 80°F despite the entire wall of east
facing windows in contact with near freezing air temperatures.
The organic habanero trial will progress into month five of its
lifecycle before harvest is achieved. These plants have endured
a longer seed to harvest cycle than many other fruit and
flower bearing plants in my past, yet the production maintains
persistence as weeks press. I could partially blame the root
rot for delaying harvest, but in reality the root structure was
repaired and thriving healthier than ever within two weeks
