TERPENES
Terpenes are a large class of organic hydrocarbons produced by a variety of
plants that are used to repel predators and attract beneficial pollinating insects.
Like cannabinoids, terpenes are part of a cannabis plant’s self-defense and self-
regulation systems.
Terpenes bind to brain receptors in a similar fashion as the cannabinoid
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The Entourage Effect suggests that cannabinoids
and terpenes work together and build upon each other to affect the complex,
diverse mental (psychoactive) and physical reactions to marijuanna. Terpenes
are the part of the plant that gives cannabis its distinctive flavors and aromas.
