WHO CAN PURCHASE MARIJUANA
AT THE PHARMACIES?
Anyone over 18 years of age who is a
Uruguayan citizen or legal permanent
resident of Uruguay.
HOW DO I REGISTER AS A CONSUMER?
To purchase, you must register at
any authorized Uruguayan Post
offices, where you have to present a
valid Uruguayan identity card, proof
of residence, and be electronically
fingerprinted. The fingerprinting lets you
buy at a pharmacy using a fingerprint
reader and no other documentation.
The registration process is free.

IS THERE A PRIVACY RISK
IN REGISTRATION?
All information will be considered private
and sensitive and cannot be used or
disclosed without the express and written
consent of the individual. As well, the
person’s address is not registered, and is
only requested to verify that the person is
qualified to sign up.
CAN I REGISTER AS A BUYER IF I’M A
REGISTERED GROWER OR MEMBER OF A
MARIJUANA CLUB?
No. The law intends that each individual
can obtain psychoactive cannabis from
only one of the three established sources:
self-cultivation, club membership, or sale
in pharmacies. A person can unsubscribe
from any of these three lists and join
another at any time but cannot be on more
than one list at any time.
WHEN AND WHERE CAN I BUY THE POT?
The government established 30
pharmacies around the country last
summer for sales by mid-July 2017

Registered consumers will be able to
purchase up to 40 grams of marijuana per
month, with a limit of 10 grams per week.
Marijuana can be purchased at a price of
US$1.30 per gram.
