GSE Algebra Support Course Description: Algebra Support will provide many opportunities to revisit and expand the understanding of foundational algebra concepts, will employ diagnostic means to offer focused interventions, and will incorporate varied instructional strategies to prepare students for required high school courses. The course will emphasize both algebra and numeracy in a variety of contexts including number sense, proportional reasoning, quantitative reasoning with functions, and solving equations and inequalities. This is a year-long course comprised of two semesters. During the first semester, students will take the Algebra Support class. The support class will prepare students for High School Math. Students will complete support modules which are intended to better prepare students for success in a high school math classroom and focus on skills that may not have been previously mastered. Coinciding with these support modules, students will complete the first two units of GSE Algebra I. During the second semester, the modules will be dropped and students will complete the remaining four units (Units 3-6) of GSE Algebra I.
