OUARZAZATE: A CITY THAT BECAME A STUDIO OPEN TO THE WORLD.
According to Ahmed Ouzdi, president of the Ouarzazate Cinema Museum Association, the museum has become an integral part of the national and international film ecosystem by providing filming locations and technical services.
Ouzdi notes that the vitality of film production creates employment opportunities for local professionals and boosts tourism. Tourism infrastructure that meets production companies’ needs further enhances Ouarzazate’ s appeal as a filming and accommodation destination.
A Morocco That Inspires, and Remembers
Together, these three museums reveal another dimension of Morocco: a country that is not merely a source of inspiration but also a place that preserves the memory of what it has inspired and transforms that memory into spaces of knowledge and discovery.
In Marrakech, the vibrant colors of zellige and the caftan have evolved into globally recognized designs, only to come full circle and reclaim their roots in the landscape that initially inspired them. Local plants become perfumes that narrate stories of the body and its rituals. Meanwhile, in Ouarzazate, film sets stand as tangible witnesses to a city that has become an open-air studio for the world.
Across fashion, perfume, and cinema, these museums make one thing clear: the private museum in Morocco is no longer a cultural luxury. It contributes to the economy and tourism and bridges local heritage and global creativity.
